Art being her passion since childhood, highly accomplished, widely acclaimed
local artist Claire Nunez Pescay generously donated her time and talent to create our
Society's 50th Anniversary Painting "Our Ancestors Journey".
In collaboration with another local artist Donna Lind, a long-standing friend of our
Islenos Society, she captured the essence of the story of our Canary Island descendants
on their voyage and settlement in St. Bernard.
The original painting is on display at the Los Isleños Museum. This stunning artwork captures the heritage, resilience, and pride of the Canary Islanders who settled in St. Bernard Parish between 1778 and 1783.
